Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Fast food is destroying the health of our children. From McDonalds to Fritos, junk food is so prevalent that kids are more likely now than ever before to eat things that are unhealthy for them. We parents need to ensure that we do what we can to reverse this trend.

Our kids are suffering from a significant lack of nutritious food. We need to make sure they eat as many nutrient-rich meals as possible. Those are defined as meals containing things from each of the three food groups. Those are carbohydrate-rich foods, foods with protein and fruits and vegetables.

Our children need the essential vitamins and nutrients that are found in breads, grains, meats and fruits and vegetables. These are vital to the very process that allow us to continue to live.

Carbohydrates provide your body with the energy it needs to do the work you do every day. These complex sugars can be found in breads and cereals as well as grains and wheat.

Carbohydrates are so essential for our children's well being. They are doing a lot of growing and that takes a lot of energy.

Proteins are vital as well. They give your body the basic building blocks it needs to maintain the immune system as well as its musculature. Proteins are found in meats and dairy products as well as certain vegetables and grains.

Finally, don't skimp on the vegetables and fruits. These are sources of the various vitamins and minerals that support various operations of the human body from calcium for bones to the vitamin C that supports the immune system.

The benefits of a healthy diet are simply too important to neglect. You should ensure that your kids are getting a full supply of everything they need every day. Whether your kids take a shine to healthy foods or not, you should insist that they consume what they need to every day. In this way they will be healthy and strong the rest of their lives.
